| What do you say when you are telling people about yourself – what do they really want to know? Who knows - but here goes.When I graduated from SU with a degree in voice performance and languages, finding work was a challenge. After transitioning from a work/study undergraduate job at the S U Admissions Office to full-time status for a year I decided to jump out and try for a teaching job. I taught music and conducted choirs for several years before realizing I preferred music to be myavocation rather than my occupation.I knew I wanted to be my own boss. Self-employment or management seemed the likely route. So how does a music teacher become a financial planner? The mid 70’s was not a time when women were being actively recruited to the financial services industry. In fact, I was one of the first women hired in any financial company in Syracuse and as far as I know, I’m the grandmother – the only one from that era who stuck with it – although there are lots of women in the field |
